Google Made With Code
Technical Director, Nexus Interactive Arts
2016 / 2017
Made with Code was launched in 2014 and uses Google's Blockly library to teach coding with visual blocks as a representation of code.
Over the last couple of years, I've worked with Nexus on projects such as using Wonder Woman to teach the basics of loops and if statements; using declarative, HTML like code blocks to design custom emojis and collaborating with the UN to design artworks to promote social activism.
My role

- Documenting the technical design of projects to Google's high standards, taking security, privacy and scalability into account
- Working with Google's technical and security teams to review and test projects
- Identifying and mitigating technical risks
- Working very closely with producers, creative directors and clients
- Ensuring projects were built to be scalable, as many were featured on the Google.com homepage
- Defining the approach for improving the legacy codebase we inherited
